GENERAL 

      Kostas Thoctarides was born on the 21st of December 1968. He is married and has a daughter. He has been a commercial diver since 1987.
      Also, from 1998 to 2003 he collaborated with the National Center for Marine Research of Greece as chief pilot and at the same time technical and operational manager of the submersible ‘THETIS’ (type REMORA 2000) and the ROV ‘SUPER ACHILLE’. In addition to that he was the diving and hyperbaric unit supervisor.
      From 1998 to 2000 he was the scientific coordinator of the LEONARDO DA VINCI (EL/972/00974/PI/II.1.1.b/FPC) program on behalf of NEORION SHIPYARD. The aim of that program was to increase and expand the activities of the shipbuilding and ship – repair industry through the development and application of techniques that will allow companies the flexibility to carry out works not only on Land, but also underwater when required.
      Also, he is a maritime expert recognized by the Ministry of Justice for the investigation of naval, diving and hyperbaric chamber accidents.

  • Honored by the General Chief of Hellenic Navy, Vice Admiral L. Paliogiorgos for the research of the missing people at the wreck of the torpedo boat ‘KOSTAKOS’.
  • Honored by the General Chief of Hellenic Navy, Vice Admiral L. Paliogiorgos for the salvage of sunken helicopter near the IMIA islands.
  • Honored by the Greek Minister of Defense G. Arsenis and the General Chief of the Hellenic Army Lieutenant-General Kapravelos for the recovery of two missing soldiers from the underwater cave system of Vouliagmeni.
  • Honorary award of the escutcheon of H.M.S/M PERSEUS by the Submarine Old Comrade association for the location of the wreck of the British Submarine.
  • Honored by the Air Accident Investigation and Aviation Safety Board in recognition of his contribution at the salvage of sunken aircrafts and helicopters from Greek Waters.
  • Honorary award by the International Academy of Letters and Arts for the contribution to the Hellenic Country.
  • Honorary award by the Youth Association of Symi for the contribution to the Hellenic Country and the diving achievements
